GCL Chairman Zhu Gongshan Comments on Xi's report to CPC congress
Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a report at the opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday, which has drawn great attention and expectations from across the world. GCL staff from almost 200 subsidiaries all over the world watched the live report, had further discussions and shared their excitement.
GCL HK and Suzhou headquarters both held conferences for all the staff to watch the report. At the same time, GCL subsidiaries from America, Australia, Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, and other foreign countries, as well as those companies in China, all joined in the session.

Zhu commented, with a stable and prosperous China committed to globalization and a clean environment, he is heartened to read in President Xi's address today of China's continuing commitment to its opening-up policy, starting with the Belt and Road Initiative. It is encouraging to see that President Xi's speech points to regulation of the "environmental regulation system". This demonstrates that the Party recognizes China's already significant pollution of water and soil resources, soil erosion, land degradation, and ecosystem and habitat loss.
According to Chairman Zhu, in recent years, GCL has been consistently striving in GCL career of bringing green power to life, as China has been investing scientific, financial and human resources to tackle environmental problems and demonstrating strong global leadership on climate change.
Zhu added that the decision to establish regulatory agencies to manage State-owned natural resource assets and monitor natural ecosystems will ensure improved standards of living for all people; assets, infrastructure and economic sectors are also less vulnerable to suffering harm from climate impacts.
The report drew up a road map of developing a modernized economy and socialist democracy, building stronger cultural confidence and improving the people's well-being. Having gained overwhelming momentum in its fight against corruption, the Party is determined to secure a "sweeping victory" over "the greatest threat" to the Party, President Xi said.
According to Xi's report, China will set up a central leading group for advancing law-based governance in all areas, which is aimed at exercising unified leadership over the initiative to build the rule of law in China. The CPC will take effective measures to prevent the loss of State assets, and ensure State assets "maintain and increase" their value, Xi said, while calling for furthering reform of State-owned enterprises.
Stressing it is imperative that China develop a modernized economy, Xi described supply-side structural reform as the main task, and urged more efforts for better quality, higher efficiency and more robust drivers of economic growth. In his report, Xi reaffirmed China's commitment to building a community with a shared future for mankind. "No matter what stage of development it reaches, China will never seek hegemony or engage in expansion," he said.
